Where Are The Most Romantic Beaches?

The most romantic beaches in Florida are all around. Whether it’s a stay in a quaint beach cottage for two, or an ocean view from a luxury hotel…there’s a beach here for all of you “lovebirds” out there!

A Few of My Faves:

St. Augustine: is a great spot for a romantic Florida getaway! St. Augustine Beach,Crescent Beach,Vilano Beach, and Anastasia State Park are all part of the beautiful 40 miles of coastline in St. John’s County, Florida.

Stay right on the beach in a cottage. Or,enjoy an ocean view from your Jacuzzi suite at one of the many great hotels.

You can horseback ride and drive your car on the beach (in certain locations). The wildlife in the area is amazing. You may spot Porpoise’s or even a North Atlantic Right Whale. To learn about all of the county’s beaches visit: County Beaches. When you can tear yourself away from some of the most romantic beaches in Florida, go to downtown St. Augustine (known as the “oldest” city). Take a horse drawn carriage ride, trolley tour or walk the cobblestone streets.

Discovered by the Spanish in 1565, the city is loaded with great historical landmarks like: Castillo de San Marcos…the oldest stone fort in the U.S. and The Spanish Quarter Village…a living history museum depicting life in colonial times. You’ll have fun drinking from the world famous spring at the Fountain of Youth.

Hubby and I have discovered new adventures every time we’ve visited. There are so many places to explore…like fine dining, great shopping, historic bed and breakfast inns, entertainment, museums,a lighthouse, and even a winery! Visit the St Johns County Chamber of Commerce website to learn more about the area.

Captiva Island: has been given the recognition as one of the “most romantic” beaches by Dr. Stephen Leatherman (aka, Dr. Beach). Is it any wonder? This gorgeous little slice of paradise has all the right ingredients for a romantic Florida getaway. The white sandy beaches, clear warm waters of the Gulf Coast, and beautiful sunsets are just a part of the natural, unspoiled beauty of the island. Stay at a romantic inn, bed & breakfast or at a resort like the Tween Waters Inn. Along with standard rooms and suites they offer luxury cottages. Some of the cottages are designated as historical landmarks. Charles Lindberg & Anne Morrow Lindberg, Teddy Roosevelt, J.N. “Ding” Darling are just a few famous folks that have visited.

The restaurants on the island are great! You can go “funky” at the Bubble Room, enjoy “fine” dining at the Old Captiva House (at the Tween Waters Inn), or stop at the Mucky Duck and enjoy a cold beer and great food with an English flair. And the best news…it’s right on the beach. It’s a great way to enjoy the sunset…on one of the most romantic beaches!

Sanibel Island: (Captiva’s sister island), well known as the best beach for seashell’s, is home to J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is a safe haven for hundreds of species of reptiles, mammals, local and migratory birds. You and your “darling” can also enjoy fishing, boating, kayaking/canoeing, bicycling and bird-watching. A must see for all nature “lovers”! Visit here to learn more about the Wildlife Refuge (Ding Darling).

The beaches that I mentioned so far a just a few of my favorites!
